Who better to go to for a restaurant recommendation than a chef, right? This week we are launching a new feature called The Chef Recommends..., which will feature chefs who tell you where they like to eat out when they're not working the stoves in their own kitchens. This week hear where David Shea of Applewood, Michael Romano of Union Square Cafe and Wylie Dufrense of wd-50 like to eat... well, sort of.

Carrageenan is Not a safe food additive.. It can cause diarrhea and ulcers on the colon.. My 8 year old son was eating Low Fat Frozen Yogurt from Sams every night. He loves ice cream. For 8 months he had a terrible time until I found out about the side effects of eating carrageenan. Please check it out before you eat the stuff..

Carrageenan has been deemed safe by the FDA for use in food preparation and for human consumption. But just because something is labeled "safe" by the FDA, if that ingredient doesn't agree with you, it should be avoided.
