This is not a review - just some quick thoughts on our new neighborhood Italian joint.
We couldn't pass up the opportunity of grabbing a seat at the bar in McNally's new lair last night, which is roughly 20 steps from our office. Even amidst the cacophony of preview excitement, Morandi is a transporting experience where you don't feel like you're in NYC.
Some highlights from the menu; ricotta e bruschetta, rye pasta with cabbage and speck, cuttlefish in a spicy red sauce, focaccia with gorgonzola and pears (which is like a drug for us), polpettine (meatballs) with currents and pine nuts, which rocked. Desserts we tried; chocolate e amarone gelato which was chocolately delicious and the Tartufo.
Morandi is scheduled to open Wednesday February 21st.
