BBQ at Smoke Joint

Chris and I went to The Smoke Joint in Fort Greene Brooklyn this past Friday night.
We got there around 8:30 and the line was out the door but it moved pretty quickly. We put our order in for 1/2 a spare rack of pork ($10), beef short ribs ($14), Brooklyn wings ($7), corn on the cob ($2.50), a grape soda ($2) and a blue point pale ale ($3.25).  We grabbed a seat at one of the small wooden tables with our beverages and waited for our number to be called out.

Thinking about our meal now, my mouth is watering. When we got our metal tray with all the goods on it, we both dove into the wings first. They had a smoky flavor, were covered in a medium-mild sauce and were delicious. Probably the best buffalo wings I've had in a long time. Next we dove into the pork spare ribs. They were dry rubbed served with 2 sauces on the side. The ribs were very juicy and tender, perfectly smoky and the kind of thing you keep eating even though you're full but you can't stop because they're so good.

Beef ribs kind of freak me out. They're just so darn big, it's almost kind of gross. This rib however was the antithesis. It was a little on the fatty side for my taste, but it was so tender, perfectly cooked and again super moist and juicy.  The only disappointment in the whole meal was the corn on the cob. We love the flavor of corn charred on the grill but in this version, the kernels were a little shrively and dried out. Perhaps when corn is in season, this will be a better side. It definitely has the potential to be good.

Bottom line: The Smoke Joint rocks. We'll definitely go back.
Side note: The Smoke Joint is about 3 long blocks away from BAM. The Joint  is a nice option for a moderately priced bite after a show. Our whole meal cost $42 with tax and a few bucks in the tip jar.
