New York Magazine is taste testing natural hot dogs this week and we're surprised to see that they left out one of the tastiest dogs we've had in a long long time.
The dog that rocked our world was from Tallgrass Beef and if you live in the NY metro region you can find them at Fairway Market.
Our first taste of Bill Kurtis's Tallgrass Beef was an expertly prepared steak served to us by the good folks at Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook, IL. At the time we knew they were on to a good thing and wished we could buy his products in our market and now we can.
Other Tallgrass products are also available at Fairway but it was the dogs that piqued our interest. The nitrite free, grass fed all beef dogs come 6 to a pack for $5.99. They are like a dog you've never had before. My biggest beef with hot dogs (aside from the nitrites and additives) is that I can't eat more than one without feeling sick. The Tallgrass dogs are satisfying yet light so you feel like you could eat 20 but you're happy to cap it off at two.
