This week Shake Shack opened its second location--a first for any Union Square Hospitality Group restaurant--across from the Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side. The former Jacques-Imo's space was taken over by Danny Meyer and Co. earlier this year and given the full "urban version of a roadside shack" treatment. The best part is that you'll now be able to enjoy a fresh off the grill shackburger in the warm confines of a street level glass-enclosed sidewalk cafe.
Several UWS-exclusive concretes are being made available, including Shacky Road (Chocolate custard, Valrhona chocolate crunchies, marshmallow and almond), Upper West Slide (Vanilla custard, strawberry puree, fresh banana and shortbread cookie), and Natural History "Crunch-stellation" (Vanilla custard, malt, Valrhona chocolate crunchies, caramel and hot fudge), a portion of whose proceeds will support "that evolution museum" across the street.
Only time will tell if the lines will rival those of the original location. Either way it'll be worth the wait.
Location: 366 Columbus Avenue, on the northwest corner of 77th Street
Hours: Open seven days a week from 11am - 9pm.
Seating: 34 upstairs and 38 downstairs in the "Rec Room."
