Time Out New York Critic's Pick

The Asian-inflected instincts of chef-owner Zac Pelaccio at this spare, brick-walled duplex of dining rooms are as sharp as ever, but presentation can be precious;...

What distinguishes 5 Ninth from its raucous neighbors, however, is the work of its young chef, Zak Pelaccio. - Adam Platt

When [the food] is good, it is excellent, a symphony of grace notes in gorgeous balance. - Frank Bruni

the food is good but not memorable enough to justify the price point. however it has one of the more tasteful spaces in MPD.

Decent fusion in Meatpacking. Service is so-so. Some Thai influenced dishes are quite good.

I especially adore eatting in the back garden in the warm weather. Secluded but energetic. The food has always been decent...but it's the package. Staff, embiance and food that bring me back. My out of town guests have always enjoyed it too!

I have been here more times than I can count and it is consistently a fantastic meal...during the summer, the garden in the back is gorgeous and the staff is overall rather friendly...my favorite meal is the steak with creamed spinach and scallop potatoes - yum!

The food is quite impressive, but the service is inept and stupid.

great ambiance: from the front, the restaurant almost goes unnoticed amongst the scene of the meatpacking. it has a rustic feel to it, but its not too quiet or "family-ish". i had been told that I would love it and all my expectations were met. every course was fresh, delicious, and original. An added plus for me, was the small menu- almost as if everything was a specialty.I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! The only qualm I have is the poor service and nonexsistent bread basket.
