Critic Reviews

August makes demands but also parcels out rewards, especially for anyone with any appetite for urban rusticity, which it pulls off about as well as any restaurant in Manhattan. - Frank Bruni

New York Magazine star Critic's Pick

So much vibrancy and warmth issues from both Tony Liu's kitchen and the personable, passionate staff...August feels like a local taverna along the Mediterranean. - Hal Rubenstein

The rear garden was especially romantic -- highly recommended! Passageway to the bathroom was a bit crowded (with steep stairs), but that's a virtually negligible point. No bar, so don't count on having a drink "before" dinner there.

Terrific, intimate. Perfect for a romantic dinner. Just one meal there so far, but we can't wait to go back.

We had a fantastic Sun brunch with 3 6 year olds, and 4 foody adults and we were all happy as clams. Try the Brunch its always very nice.
