Critic Reviews

...Insieme is the second new Midtown restaurant this year where I've been frustrated by the way some dazzling cooking is undercut not only by unevenness across the menu or inconsistency in the kitchen but also by atmospherics that don't pull their weight and live up to the rest of the production. - Frank Bruni

The restaurant's name ("together" in Italian) refers to the overly complex menu, which is really two documents intertwined in one. A "traditional" Italian menu is printed side by side with a more experimental, "contemporary" list. - Adam Platt

This major Italian scores well with the critics, but if you are just a regular guest, be prepared for service with an attitiude and meals below par.

What a disappointment. We dined there on 5/17/08 against our better judgement; it has gotten some decent reviews, and is always being pushed my Mike Colomeco on FoodTalk. Well....the service left plenty to be desired. For starters, it took almost 15 minutes for our bottle of wine to be brought to us. When our courses started to arrive, we could not understand the server as he described the dishes. I understand we live in a mutli cultural society, if i cant understand my local street vendor, i am OK with that, but not when a place considers itself fine dining and charges what they do. Fine, put that aside, its more about the food right? OK, the Tasking Menu lacked one important element, 'taste'.
