Critic Reviews

The New York Times Critic's Pick 09/07/05

Regardless of their inspiration, the salty, meaty little burgers swaddled by potato rolls are so good that Shake Shack is swarmed with diners willing to wait 20 minutes or more to order, then wait again while the burgers are griddled to order from morning to night. - Peter Meehan

Everyone has a favorite Danny Meyer restaurant; ours is Shake Shack. A weekly visit could cause you to rethink the necessity of having to get out of town during the summer. - Rob Patronite and Robin Raisfeld

Danny Meyer's wildly popular Madison Square Park concession stand is mobbed during the summer; take advantage of the still-chilly weather (and the heat lamps)...

now open year-around! try the double shack burger with a side of cheese fries and you'll understand why so many interns have to endure the long lunch line for this treat.

yes, their burgers really are that good. and it's fun, if you don't wait in a line wrapped around the park. custard is yummy. and i recommend shacktoberfest. i hear they have bathrooms now, points for them.

Very good burger (tried the Shack Stack). The dogs were not memorable. On a busy saturday afternoon I stood in line for over an hour - not worth the wait (I would wait 20 minutes tops).

Two hours of waiting better be worth it. And it definitely is—every single time.
