Critic Reviews

New York Magazine star Critic's Pick

At this early date, Trestle on Tenth has many of the trappings of an old-shoe neighborhood joint. - Adam Platt

Mr. Kuettel tends not to mark his wines up more than about double the retail price. That's gracious and reasonable, and it's a reason to single out Trestle on Tenth, an otherwise uneven neighborhood restaurant whose individualism doesn't work as well when it comes to food. - Frank Bruni

Nestled on a corner perch, this Swiss Chelsea spot certainly looks inviting: Through oversize windows, you can see the hanging globe lamps, mahogany bar, broad-plank...

Last summer, Ralf Kuettel, who hails from a small town outside Zurich, took it upon himself to provide the city with a new Swiss-influenced restaurant. - Kate Julian

I enjoyed my butter lettuce starter and salmon for the main, but my friend was not as lucky with his meal. His quail was too salty, the risotto that came with the starter had a strange consistency and the lamb was overspiced. The gratinee - while heavy - had a nice chewy consistency. Service overall was decent, but not stellar. We had to ask for our wine with dinner three times before it came.

I went with 4 other friends and we had a great time. The prices were great for NY and the food even better. Our server, Gray, was one of the best around. I would gladly dine there again.

simple dishes made really, really well. take their handmade mustard for example. it's the best i've had and it's just mustard. the handmade sausages are spectacular. i recommend trying some of the more adventurous items. great service. will be back for more.
