Critic Reviews

This gem serves accessible California-Mediterranean cuisine and reflects the gestalt of its neighborhood. Try the grilled pork and don't miss the exceptionally good fries. - Michael Bauer

Jossel's ingratiating cooking is adamantly unpretentious.

Whenever I'm in SF I have to go to this restaurant - sometimes I make it in more than once during a trip. It's super seasonal and delicious food served in an energetic atmosphere. You can also eat alone to the right of the pass at a little counter. It's one of my favorite places. One thing to note: whispered sweet nothings will be lost in the din (energy) of the restaurant.

True, wholesome and flavorful dishes (lamb shanks) in a lively, urban-yet-neighborly setting, and whose sensitivity and devotion to organic farming and humane ranching are just as equally admirable.
